Abstract
Idiomatic expressions are an integral part of the English language, deeply rooted in its literary tradition and everyday usage. This paper examines the significance of idioms in modern English literature and communication, exploring their stylistic, semantic, and pragmatic functions. The research focuses on how idioms enrich literary expression, enhance communicative effectiveness, and reflect cultural values. The paper also discusses the challenges idioms pose for non-native speakers and strategies to improve idiom comprehension and usage in ESL contexts.
