Аннотация

Gender equality has been made an issue of the UN global policy agendas on account of the growing recognition of women’s contribution to sustainable development. Reforms such as "Law on the Guarantees of Equal Rights and Opportunities for Women and Men" and "Gender Equality Strategy until 2030" in Uzbekistan are an indication of political will to increase women’s participation in social, economic, and political area. However, there remains a huge gap when it comes to evaluating the true outcomes of these reforms in real world implementations particularly at the regional or grassroots levels. This research applies a document qualitative method using official reports, institutional records, and international comparative practices of data from 2021 to 2024. Significant progress is found: Through targeted initiatives, over 432,000 women are supported, women have 33.3 percent of the Central Election Commission, and there has been significant increase in women holding leadership positions in state institutions. However, cultural barriers and lack of uniform enforcement of policy persist to full inclusion. The findings suggest that there is a need for contextualized approaches aimed at taking the best from integrating global lessons with their localized implementation to achieve sustainable gender empowerment in Uzbekistan.
